We're Glad You're Here!

old time Regeneration!

Main Street Improvements
On December 3, 2020, we will begin work on structural updates on Main Street, including snow bike lanes, widening and smoothing of sidewalks to accommodate wheelchair access, storm drainage, solar hybrid street lights, and shade/heat maps. So watch your step!
Settler of the Month: Patience Alifo
Patience Alifo, formerly of Ghana, wins this month's award. Since arriving two months ago, with an unexpected teleportation detour to the North Pole (Elon is working on that!), Patience has been a paradigm of Regeneration. Patience took the model of her Greenfuel Innovation initiative in Ghana and adapted it for RGF_1, serving as the foundation for the RGF_1 Energy Team. Give Patience a big RGF_1 high-five (aka a hug) when you see her next!
It's Official!
On December 15, 2020, the founding members of RGF_1 ratified and released The Fundamental Order of Regeneration, a living documentation of the 10 principles upon which all Regenerative systems and structures will be built. Please read, join, and contribute any amendments or additions. This is a Regenerative document, meaning it is open, iterative, and porous! Let's go! 🡒
New Tree Warden
RGF_1 is happy to welcome Meetra Surik as our new Tree Warden!
She is now responsible for the care and control of all trees and shrubs within the limits of any public grounds and buildings, except those along the base of the Transantarctic Mountains or the Ross Sea shoreline. These are under the control of Antarctica’s Commissioner of Transportation and, unfortunately for the krill, outside settlement jurisdiction.
PLEASE SIGN UP FOR SETTLEMENT EMAIL
If you are not already signed up for the settlement-wide email, please do so. This is a quick and effective way for the RGF_1 members to stay up to date. Also, be sure to join our Signal channel for encrypted messaging until we get our system up and running (thank you, Graham Ivan Clark!).

Visit Us
RGF_1 is a beautiful small arctic settlement nestled in the Transantarctic Mountains with a pristine view of the Ross Sea. RGF_1 is often described as revolutionary and utopian with its picturesque Main Street (a showcase for inclusive design and architecture innovations), its universal income and self-governance, its superior community gardens and Regenerative Food system, and its world-renowned rehabilitation center for seals and penguins (Yay! Universal Healthcare!).
Located on a glacier in the Southwestern region of Antarctica, we have an exceptional polar dessert and the highest average elevation in the world (excellent for elite athletic training) as well as a number of mountains, lakes, hidden streams, cascading waterfalls, thousands of acres of snow, and sledding trails. We also have an art therapy and unlearning community center for new arrivals and a small teleportation terminal. We celebrate empathetic innovation, autonomous co-creation, fluid leadership, ancestral accountability, equitable diversity, and circular consumption——living a life of balance, beauty, and abundance. We cherish our Regenerative world, striving to preserve it as we fully embrace a life lived fluidly, without borders, binaries, or boundaries.
RGF_1 is a vibrant settlement full of creative people who welcome all to join them in building a Regenerative Future. With year-round, settlement-wide events, it is always a good time to come to RGF_1 and learn how to build your own Regenerative Future. Easy to get to by teleportation or boat, we are just over 20 days from New York City and 73 days from Beijing. Come experience all RGF_1 and a Regenerative Future have to offer. You will want to stay longer than you planned... that is, if we let you.
How To Apply
Things to Know
The accepted currencies in RGF_1 are: the RGF_1 cryptocurrency Trinitycoin (our Treasurer is a big fan of The Matrix) or barter. The terms of a barter are determined by the bartering individuals on a case by case basis. No single object or service is inherently more valuable than another. Value in RGF_1 is fluid.
While temperatures at RGF_1 range from a summer high of -14 °F/ -25 °C to a winter low of -71 °F/ -57 °C, the sun is intense year-round. RGF_1 has installed shade maps throughout the settlement; however, sunscreen is a must. RGF_1, in partnership with SpaceX Mars, has produced its own SPF 300+ hypoallergenic sunscreen, which is free (just like all healthcare!) to every resident and visitor.
Upon arrival, visitors hand over all cell phones and tablets. They will be returned upon departure.
All photography is banned.
For SAFETY, CHILDREN under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult at the Ross Sea and all settlement parks and community gardens. Please be aware that the basketball court is scheduled to be fenced and painted this winter. It will not be available for play while the work is being done.
RGF_1 is a plastic-free environment. If you enter with any plastic or plastic-derived products, they will be confiscated and NOT returned.
No food or drink is allowed to be brought into RGF_1 without previous written permission (unless it’s a bag of Hot Cheetos!). RGF_1 is a Regenerative Food community.
When parking snow or water bikes at Buckminster Park or Halfaxa Park on the Ross Sea, or Thunberg Point Boat Launch on the Ross River Inlet, please display the RGF_1 public access sticker on your vehicle (public access stickers may be obtained from the Town Clerk’s office) or the visitor parking pass that was distributed to all visitor pass holders.
YOGA ON THE MEETING HOUSE ICE SHEET is postponed until Spring 2021. You can live stream Annette Babek’s classes in the meantime, FREE OF CHARGE, on Tuesdays at 6:00pm, beginning December 11, or on demand, both on Annette’s Twitch channel. Once in-person classes resume, please bring a mask, mat, and water bottle.
How To Get Here
Getting to RGF_1 is easier than you think! If you are short on time, it is best to book a ticket for teleportation. To do so, simply get in touch with Sandy at SpaceX (+1 310-363-6000 ext. 102) who can hook you up. The trip will take .06 seconds with limited jet lag. You will need to allow for a day of mild vertigo and short-term memory loss. But it will pass after 24 hours.
If you prefer the more scenic route and have time, we highly recommend coming by sailboat. You will not be able to dock or debark the boat if it is powered by a fossil fuel motor. This is heavily enforced, and you will be told to leave immediately, escorted by our RGF_1 Harbor Master if necessary.
Where To Stay
At RGF_1, we live by "Mi Casa Es Su Casa" and believe the only way to properly experience a culture is to fully immerse yourself in it. Therefore, every visitor is hosted in the home of an RGF_1 settlement member, free of financial cost.
As a guest, you will have responsibilities in the home as well as the community. These can range from clearing the ice dams that develop overnight to rescuing the Elephant Seals who, due to their heft, often tip over when coming on shore and have difficulty righting themselves. To book your accommodations, please visit Airbnb, our partner in converting the world’s homes to the Regenerative way.
For groups of 3 people or more, you can book one of our state-of-the-art Windrifter Yurts that are located near Thunberg Point as well as Halfaxa Park. You will then be assigned settlement duties upon arrival. Yurts can also be booked on Airbnb.
When booking, you will be asked to insert a code. This will be supplied by RGF_1 upon approval of your application.
What To Do
Little Sun Solar Farm
Come visit our state-of-the-art solar farm that currently provides RGF_1 with 75% of its energy needs. Thanks to a generous donation from Billie Eilish, we will be expanding our capacity to power all research stations in Antarctica. Yay! As part of the tour, each guest receives an RGF_1 solar-powered snow globe with an Emperor Penguin lip-syncing and dancing to Ms. Eilish’s “Bad Guy.” Classic penguin move. Thank you to Olafur Eliasson for the Little Sun inspiration!
RGF_1 Regeneration Library
No visit to RGF_1 is complete without absorbing the inspiration and possibility housed in our Regeneration Library. An absolute must for anyone aspiring to live a Regenerative Future, here you will find all of the novels, poems, biographies, songs, folk tales, and movies that tell the story of Regeneration. As we always say, from Aristotle to Ariana Grande, artists have been talking about Regeneration for a long time.
International Day of the Seal Celebration (March 22)
No place does IDS better than RGF_1. While the official day is March 22, this is our Mardi Gras, Junkanoo, Diwali, and New Year’s rolled into one. Nothing is too good for our seals!
Chasing Seals™
Self-guided, historical walking tour of RGF_1 using the Chasing Seals™ app. Of course, NO chasing allowed:)
Snow Way Tours
Snow Way is RGF_1’s resident sherpa experience, ready to introduce you to our abundance of groomed classic and cross country ski trails and many options for creating your own tracks across frozen lakes and ice sheets. Nordic (cross country) skiing is an easy and fun way to get a good cardio workout while enjoying the majestic beauty of the mountains of snow year-round. Let Snow Way show you the snow way!™
I Spy RGF_1....More Than Meets The Eye!
Exercise your body and your mind while RELAXING YOUR SOUL! Take a walk guided by our map and puzzle sheet. Visit one (or all six!) locations in one day. They are within walking distance of Main Street. Enjoy the beautiful weather and learn about our settlement with an activity for all ages.
Where To Eat
RGF_1 may still be developing but our food scene sure isn’t! RGF_1 boasts the highest number of Regenerative Food restaurants per capita in the world because EVERY food experience here is Regenerative! Each one is unique, community-owned, and offers some of the best food and ambiance to be found anywhere. We invite you to try them all! From breakfast at dawn to late evening dining, you'll be pleased and coming back for more memorable experiences.
And, for our visitors only, the prices on each menu are scaled for income inequality based on gender and/or race (thanks for the idea, Tunde Wey!). This means, for anyone other than cis, heterosexual, white men, the cost of your meal will be adjusted according to the pay disparity you experience. Of course, we have universal income for all residents of RGF_1 so residents all pay the same.
Pie-Ces Pizza
"Healing souls, one pie at a time!" Empathic pizzeria known for its fluid astrology-informed menu of stone-baked, thin-crust pies and locally produced biodynamic wines, kombucha, and the cleanest water this side of, well, the world! Each guest shares their birthdate, and based upon the reading of our staff of empaths, a custom recipe is whipped up. No two people are the same, so why would your pizza be?! Walk-ins welcome, great for groups, great for kids, offers catering and take-out.
Dada Diner
Simple, Regenerative food done well is our passion. We serve breakfast and lunch with the occasional creative twist, sourcing local, Antarctica foods wherever and whenever possible. Pancakes the size of your plate with Sunflower Butter and Maple Syrup from less than a mile away. Our eggs are delivered several times a week from Ross Meadow Farms here in RGF_1, and our “bacon” is thick and cured country style but no animals involved! We are open 7 days a week for breakfast and lunch. But, for Friday night supper, come on in early, because though official hours are 5-8, we prepare our specials fresh and if the food runs out, we close the doors!
Fluid Foods (Coming Soon!)
We are excited to announce RGF_1’s first permanent food happening! Each month, we will invite a chef from a climate conflict region to prepare Regenerative Food recipes from their community, introducing residents and visitors of RGF_1 to the ingenious and resourceful ways that at-risk communities around the world, through hyper-local, regenerative means, are finding solutions to climate-created food insecurity.
Regenerative Farmers & Artisans Market
RFAM unites producers, musicians, and neighbors in community, offering an incubator space for creative entrepreneurs. RFAM is based on the belief that we need to support our local producers and neighbors in community. Our entire team is committed to meeting those needs. We always have fun updates on Signal, so check in often.
Location: Halfaxa Park
Hours: Wednesdays 6:30am-2:00pm year-round
Who To Meet
More like who not to MEET! EVERYONE in RGF_1 is worth knowing. And, lucky for you, RGF_1 is a community where each person (and animal) is seen and respected. Therefore, it is an unspoken rule that you NEVER walk by somebody without looking them in the eye and saying “hello!”. There is NOTHING RGF_1 residents love more than talking, particularly if it’s about building a Regenerative Future (or seals and penguins, of course)!
